Title: How antimicrobial silver interacts with peptide excerpts from efflux pump proteins
Born and raised in Germany, France and the USA, Katharina M. Fromm is now professor for Chemistry at the bilingual University of Fribourg in Switzerland where she teaches at Bachelor, Master and Doctoral level in German, French and English. Her research encompasses the bioinorganic chemistry of silver, the synthesis and characterization of nanorattles for antimicrobial and battery applications, and the design of novel sensors based on metal-organic frameworks and coordination compounds, as well as stimuli-responsive materials. She thus uses interdisciplinary approaches, reaching from physics to medicine via biochemistry and biology. Since 2020, she is also Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at the University of Fribourg.
