Title: Metallothioneins – Proteins with Peptidic Properties

Eva Freisinger studied Chemistry at the University of Dortmund, Germany, where she also obtained her PhD in Bioinorganic Chemistry. After a postdoc in Structural Biology at SUNY Stony Brook, USA, she started her own research group at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, where she stayed ever since. Eva’s research focuses on metallothioneins from different species, mostly plants, bacteria and fungi, with an additional interest in the sequence-specific modification of nucleic acids. She serves on a number of advisory boards for international conference series, and since 2014 she is the secretary of the EuroBIC conference series. She recently also became one of the editors of the Metal Ions in Life Sciences series.
