HEMMINGSEN Lars, University of Copenhagen, Denmark

Title: Applications of PAC spectroscopy to metal binding peptides: From metal site structure & dynamics to molecular rotational correlation times

Biography:

Lars Hemmingsen studied physics at the University of Copenhagen, and obtained a PhD in biophysics and bioinorganic chemistry in 1995, the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, Denmark. After postdoctoral stays on theoretical chemistry with Ulf Ryde, University of Lund, and Martin J. Field, IBS, Grenoble, he established his own group in Copenhagen. Lars Hemmingsen’s group works with application of perturbed angular correlation of γ-rays (PAC) spectroscopy and theoretical chemistry to elucidate protein metal site structure and dynamics, as well as development of new techniques in (bio)inorganic chemistry (β-NMR), and the role of metal ions in protein aggregation.
