Title: Molecular interaction of zinc-binding food compounds with ADAM17/TACE and their functions

Biography:

Chibuike Udenigwe is a Professor and University Research Chair at the School of Nutrition Sciences, Cross-appointed Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences, and Faculty Affiliate at the Institute for Science, Society and Policy at the University of Ottawa, Canada. He obtained a PhD in Food and Nutritional Sciences and MSc in Chemistry from the University of Manitoba, and a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Nigeria. He held an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Guelph and then a faculty position at Dalhousie University prior to moving to Ottawa. His research takes the chemical sciences approach in exploring food, nutrition and health, with a focus on sustainable processing, functional foods and nutraceuticals, and their beneficial effects on human health. Dr. Udenigwe was a Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow and is a member of the Global Young Academy.
