Title: Understanding Differential {Fe-O2}n– Reactivity Effected By Mononuclear Non-Heme Iron Containing Metalloenzymes Using Metallopeptide Based Models

Jason Shearer received his PhD in chemistry under Prof. Julie Kovacs from the University of Washington and completed postdoctoral training under Prof. Kenneth Karlin at Johns Hopkins University. He started his independent career at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2004 before moving to Trinity University in San Antonio, TX in 2018, where he is currently the Semmes Distinguished Professor of Chemistry. Prof. Shearer’s research is centered on understanding how the geometric and electronic structure of thiolate-ligated metal sites contribute to their function. His work primarily focuses on the design, preparation and spectroscopic interrogation of small metallopeptides of biological relevance.
